Privacy Policy
Effective October 16, 2026
StateBlock is a call-blocking app for iPhone. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party SDKs. This policy explains the little data the app touches and where it goes.
What the app does on your phone
You choose US states, toll-free number ranges, and individual numbers to block. StateBlock expands those choices into a list of phone numbers and hands the list to iOS's Call Directory feature, which blocks matching calls. The list is generated on your phone and stays there.
Contacts
With your permission, StateBlock reads the phone numbers in your Contacts so that people you know are never blocked, even if their number falls inside a blocked area code. Contact names and numbers are used only to build that exemption list on the device. They are never transmitted, stored on any server, or shared with anyone. You can withdraw access at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Contacts; the app keeps working, but your contacts may then be blocked if they live in a blocked state.
Numbers you flag
Numbers you flag as spam are stored only in the app's local storage on your phone and in the block list given to iOS. They are not sent anywhere.
Live Caller ID Lookup (optional)
StateBlock can optionally use Apple's Live Caller ID Lookup. When enabled, iOS checks incoming calls against a StateBlock server using Apple's Private Information Retrieval design. The check is encrypted on your phone, routed through Apple's relay, and processed by the server in encrypted form. The server cannot learn which number was looked up, who you are, or your IP address, and it keeps no record of lookups. The only data the server receives in the clear is an anonymous access token shared by all copies of the app. You can turn this feature off in Settings › Apps › Phone › Call Blocking & Identification.
What we do not collect
- No personal information, account, or sign-in.
- No usage analytics, crash reporting, or advertising identifiers.
- No call logs, call content, or history of blocked calls.
- No location data.
Data retention and deletion
Everything StateBlock stores lives on your phone. Deleting the app removes it. Because no data is sent to us, there is nothing for us to retain or delete on your behalf.
Children
StateBlock is not directed at children under 13 and collects no information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with an updated effective date.
